Personal Biography

Eileen Beth Diener, MSW, LGSW, is a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Graduate Social Worker with a robust background in various areas of specialty, including domestic violence, forensic social work, children and families, adult protective services, mental health, and gerontology. She holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work, specializing in Clinical Mental Health, and a Bachelor of Social Work with a minor in Sociology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Additionally, she earned an Associate of Applied Science in Human Services from the Community College of Baltimore County.

Since September 2021, Eileen has been a therapist at Positive Steps, LLC, where she leverages her extensive experience to provide individual and family therapy. Eileen has also recently started a parenting therapy group at Positive Steps. Previously, she worked as a Telehealth Therapist at several agencies where she met with clients to offer therapeutic support, demonstrating her adaptability and commitment to client care.

Eileen's diverse professional journey includes significant contributions as a Psychiatric Social Worker at St. Joseph Medical Center. There, she facilitated CBT groups, managed discharge planning, guided families in understanding mental health resources, and built relationships with community providers. Her work in the Emergency Department at Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) involved assessing new mothers for mental health issues, intimate partner violence, and other support needs, highlighting her comprehensive approach to patient care.

At St. Agnes Emergency Department and Oncology, Eileen assisted patients with community resources, facilitated discharge planning, and conducted psychosocial assessments. As the Director of Social Work at Holly Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation, she was responsible for planning and implementing social work services, ensuring compliance with state and federal standards, and supporting residents and their families through discharge and aftercare planning.

Eileen also gained valuable experience at Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital, where she worked with intellectually disabled adults, facilitated groups and family meetings, and coordinated with community agencies to implement behavior plans. Her work at the Baltimore County Department of Social Services included providing home-based services to disabled adults and children who had been sexually abused, emphasizing her dedication to supporting vulnerable populations.

Eileen's extensive training includes specialized certifications in forensic interviewing and child competency, reflecting her commitment to staying current with best practices in social work. She is also actively involved in professional organizations, such as the NASW, where she has served in various capacities, including as a student board representative.
