Personal Biography
Paula A. Waller, LCSW-C, brings over 30 years of experience in providing treatment, specializing in populations that have experienced complex trauma, including families and youth in the field of child welfare. Ms. Waller is a respected figure in her field, having delivered presentations both locally and nationally on the topic of children and families with complex trauma.
Ms. Waller graduated from Salisbury University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work in 1990. She furthered her education at the University of Maryland School of Social Work, earning her Master’s degree in 1992. As a University of Maryland Child Psychiatry Mental Health Trainee, she honed her expertise at the Walter P. Carter Center.
In 1994, Ms. Waller began her tenure at the Kennedy Krieger Institute Family Center as a clinical social worker, where she worked with children and families who experienced abuse and neglect. Currently, she serves as the Social Work Manager at the Family Center Therapeutic Foster Care Program at the Kennedy Krieger Institute. In 2022, she became the Director of the Children’s Guild Treatment Foster Care Program.
Ms. Waller has been in private practice since 2001 and is currently affiliated with Positive Steps, LLC. Her academic contributions include serving as an adjunct faculty member at Smith College, Howard University, the University of Maryland, The Catholic University School of Social Work, and Morgan State University School of Social Work.
